Wizards releases free version of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D Basic)

WotC, as promised, has released a free version of Dungeons and Dragons called D&D Basics.  It’s the core elements of 5th Edition (DnD Next) available in a handy package, even has the new 3 page character sheets at the end of the rules and spell list.

This is kinda awesome.  I mean I’m still going to buy all the books coming out in August, but this is a great way to get peeps into D&D who might otherwise never give it a try.

The Campaign Begins!!
The Smirnoff Knights will be starting a new campaign tomorrow.  As you can see, we will be playing with the latest DnD Next playtest material for our rule set.  And yes, we will be starting ‘The Sundering’ campaign.  Sure we’ll be a little behind the D&D Encounter season, but we’ll catch up.  We are looking forward to seeing how this story leads into DnD Next’s storyline when it’s released this summer.
Just got done setting my table and making my NPC’s, and I thought, dang that’s pretty, I need to take a pic ;p
Happy Gaming!

The DnD Next Playtest has concluded!

Our group is enjoying the last packet, one of our adventurers was dying for the whole Bard thing ;p

But, rumors abound that the next release of DnD will be in 2014 to coincide with the games 40th Anniversary.  Looking back, I guess having only 5 versions of a game in 40 years really isn’t all that bad, about 8 years for each version of the game give or take.

And after playtesting, giving feedback, etc.  I think this version will be a joy to play :)

PBS Offbook produced: Dungeons and Dragons - and the Influence of Tabletop RPGS

-This is a decent little 8 minute piece put together by PBS’s digital studios on Tabletop gaming and Dungeons and Dragons.  Well worth a share, and possibly a decent introduction to what D&D is to those who don’t know.

** Also it doesn’t hurt to point out that the ‘Smirnoff Knights’ gaming group is shown in the video doing what they do :) **
